Most expensive celebrity homes

WITH these sort of rock star prices tags, it's little wonder celebrity homes can take years to sell, such as rapper 50 Cent's mansion which has been on the market since 2007. Then again, with pockets as deep as the owners of these homes, the world famous vendors can afford to ride out the wait.

Marilyn Monroe’s Brentwood House

Marilyn Monroe’s Brentwood House For Sale

by HOOKEDONHOUSES on JULY 15, 2010

Marilyn Monroe was found dead in her Brentwood bedroom in 1962 at the age of 36 (hard to believe she’d be in her ’80s today!). This photo was taken by Allan Grantin her living room shortly before she died. Because it was the last house she lived in, there has always been a lot of fascination with it.

Grainy old photos were all that most of us had ever seen of the interior, so it’s big news that it’s on the market again.

The Spanish Revival home was built in 1929. Marilyn bought it in 1962 for $90,000. The current owners are asking $3.6 million. Here’s how the living room looked when she lived there (via LA Times):

Looks like they eliminated the dark paneling and removed the wall-to-wall carpeting to reveal the original tile underneath. The fireplace remains the same:

Here are some more old photos of how it looked after Marilyn died (via PopSugar):

The house doesn’t seem to have been altered much over the years, for which we can be thankful. It retains its unpretentious charm. Love the kitchen:

The house has 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, and about 2,600 square feet.

You can read more about the house on LA Curbed and the Daily Mail. For more information and the rest of the photos, check out the listing : David Offer, Prudential Realty.

Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos Selling SoHo Penthouse

Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos Selling SoHo Penthouse

by HOOKEDONHOUSES on JANUARY 25, 2013

Wow. Check out the HUGE penthouse in NYC that the Live! With Kelly and Michaelhost Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos are selling for $24.5 million. The place they’ve called home since 2005 has a whopping 6,792 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 4.5 baths–plenty of space for their 3 kids to run around.

They bought the condo for $9.5 million and spent 2 years renovating it. The listing boasts “soaring 12’3 ceilings, lit by way of window after window. Enter through a gracious foyer into the spectacular living room sun kissed by an enormous skylight. Tread on dark stained white oak flooring past seven windows into the grand eat-in-kitchen and dining room.”

“A chef’s dream appears filled with high end appliances, including a fully vented six burner Wolf stove with griddle, two Electrolux dishwashers and three Sub-Zero refrigerators, clad in Carrara marble and luxurious blue stone as well as custom milled wood and stainless cabinetry.”

“A second stunning dining room opens up to a full outdoor kitchen.”

“A media room offers a cozy haven lit by an enormous skylight and warmed by a gas fireplace.”

I used to watch Kelly and Mark on All My Children, back when my son was little and I was home alone with him all day. I’d look forward to taking a break with my Pine Valley friends every afternoon at 1:00.

Anyone else remember them as Hayley and Mateo?

I was excited when she got the Regis & Kelly gig. It’s just not the same without Reege, though. But I digress…

“Swing open the French doors to reveal an incredible 3,073 square foot private roof deck with an outdoor fireplace and plenty of seating on which to unwind.”

Zillow has more info about the listing, which you can see at The Modlin Group. The property is co-listed with Adam Modlin and Raphael De Niro of Prudential Douglas Elliman.

Paula Deen’s House in Savannah

It’s Paula Deen’s House in Savannah, Y’all!

by HOOKEDONHOUSES on DECEMBER 9, 2009

Paula Deen’s house in Savannah, Georgia, was featured recently on CMT Cribs. I took these snapshots of it while watching the tour because I knew you’d want to see it, too! Because it came from the video, the photo quality isn’t very good, but it gives you an idea of her Southern home style.

Her house has 4,800 square feet (4 BR, 4.5 BA) and is just as charming as can be.

Paula welcomes us into her foyer:

Living room:

Dining area:

Her famous kitchen “where the magic happens:”

Wouldn’t you love to have a chance to eat something that came out of this kitchen? I’m getting hungry just looking at it.

Paula’s bedroom:

Paula shows off her dog steps that lead up to the bed so her “babies” can climb up without assistance:

The bathroom, where she gets her hair and makeup done before filming each show:

On the Food Network website, you can get Paula’s 100 most popular recipes, from her Lady & Sons Chicken Pot Pie to Grandmother Paul’s Fried Chicken. Yum. Here’s a photo of her in her kitchen that I found there:

You can watch the entire house tour on video at here. (Note: Unfortunately, it looks like the website is no longer live.)

*3/12 UPDATE: Oprah and Gayle King visited Paula in Savannah and got a tour of Deen’s waterfront property Riverbend on Oprah’s Next Chapter. Although it has a similar style, it looks like a different house than the one we saw on CMT. Take a look!

She shows them the game room:

Dishing out a meal for them in the dining room:

My favorite part of the property? The guest house! How sweet is this?
