Floyd Mayweather Jr Las Vegas Mansion

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Lists Las Vegas Mansion

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. looks to KO the competition in this week’s Sunday Sports Page, but he’s just one of many champions headlining the sports real estate main event. Read on for the latest news from the professional athlete home front.

Miami Heat Sell Tim Hardaway’s House (Top)
Back in 2011, the Miami Heat threw Tim Hardaway a bone in the form of buying his Florida home. Despite making $46.6 million for his career, Hardaway was, at the time, under the IRS microscope for tax troubles, but managed to save face by selling his 7,542-square-foot home to the Heat ownership group, including team president Pat Riley, for $1.985 million. Two years removed from the purchase, the Miami owners have finally washed their hands of Hardaway’s estate, selling the Mediterranean spread that has a pool and a private Heat-themed basketball court for $2.3 million.

Tom Glavine Lists Atlanta Mansion
It’s really kind of cool that, after all those years playing together with the Atlanta Braves, pitching legends Tom Glavine and John Smoltz live within 11 miles of one another. Even cooler is the fact that you could buy either one of Cy Young Award-winners’ homes right now – that is, if you have the cash. The world gave pause for a moment in 2011 when Smoltz listed his massive sportsman estate in Alpharetta for $7.2 million. Now, his former pitching-mate, Glavine, has followed suit with a mansion of his own. The 10-time All-Star asks $1.995 million for his Alpharetta home, which swells to 10,222 square feet and has its own full-size basketball court, an indoor golf simulator and a sweet backyard baseball diamond.

Former No.1 Draft Pick Selling Home
Ki-Jana Carter, the 1st-overall pick in the 1995 NFL Draft, is looking to part ways with his Plantation, FL estate. The former Penn State great, whose pro career never quite played out the way many expected, asks $1.77 million for the 9,477-square-foot spread, which has some impressive sports memorabilia hanging from the rafters.

Someone Please Buy Jamie Moyer’s House
On the market for as long as I can remember, Jamie Moyer has reduced the price on his Seattle estate. Previously askingas much as $5.35 million, the veteran Major League pitcher has slashed his asking price considerably and now asks $4.4 million for the 7,100-square-foot home. Built in 1933, the brick-lined home comes with 7 bedrooms and 5 baths, an outdoor pizza oven, bath house, croquet yard and the baseball player-mandated indoor batting cage.

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Aims for Vegas Home Knockout
Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr. got paid and then some last year to the tune of $90 million, a figure that made him the highest-paid U.S. athlete for the second consecutive year. So what does America’s richest athlete do for an encore performance? That would be adding a few more million to the coffers by selling his Las Vegas mansion. Mayweather looks to bank $3.35 million for his Sin City spread, which weighs in at 7 bedrooms, 9 baths and roughly 7,300 square feet. Built in 2005, the welterweight champion’s spread spares no expense with a vaulted ceilings and marble flooring, along with amenities like a chef’s kitchen and a posh sunken living room.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s New Home in Montecito

Tour Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s New Estate

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s real estate portfolio is heating up, and, no, we’re not talking about the recent wildfires in Ventura County that came close to the couple’s ranch in Hidden Valley. DeGeneres and Rossi have reportedly purchased a picturesque estate in Montecito. While the purchase price is unknown, the 13-acre estate was previously listed at $26.5 million.

An immaculately restored Tuscan-style hacienda, the home was built in the 1920s and was extensively renovated by its previous owner, architect and designer John Saladino. Ensconced in rich foliage that includes 30-foot Italian cypresses and mature olive trees, the home offers 10,500 square feet with five bedrooms, seven baths and nine fireplaces. Interior highlights include a chef’s kitchen, a stately library and a master bath featuring an Italian neoclassical marble tub dating to 1720. Outside, the lush grounds include an intimate swimming pool and patio, and a Roman column in the garden that dates to 200 B.C.

Martin Lawrence's House: The Comedy Star Lists $26 Million Beverly Hills Mansion

Martin Lawrence's House: The Comedy Star Lists $26 Million Beverly Hills Mansion

Martin Lawrence has had a rather tumultuous relationship with Hollywood, and the public, over the years. The son of a member of the U.S. Military, he was born in Germany, and spent most of his childhood years in Maryland. He was originally focused on a promising career in boxing, but also attended a magnet school for the performing arts. He later relocated to Denver, Colorado, and began performing on the stand-up comedy circuit. This led to competing on "Star Search", where he made it to the finals, and then to work on television and in film projects such as, "What's Happening Now!!", "Do the Right Thing", and "House Party". He also hosted the popular HBO series, "Def Comedy Jam". However, it was his Fox television show, "Martin", that made him a star worldwide. The popular series ran from 1992 and 1997, and helped put Fox on the map as a competitive network. He has since appeared in multiple films, including, "Bad Boys", and its sequel, "Blue Streak", "Big Momma's House", and its sequels, "Black Knight", "Rebound", "Wild Hogs", and "Death at a Funeral". While his career has managed to flourish, his personal life has had some significant ups and downs, all of which have been followed by the media. From public meltdowns on various movie sets, to brandishing a gun in traffic, to accusations of sexual harassment and misconduct on the set of "Martin", to almost dying from running in too many layers of clothes on a hot day, Martin Lawrence's life has been anything but funny. He recently split with his companion of nearly 20 years (who he married just three years ago), and this past month, he listed their massive home in Beverly Hills.

Martin Lawrence's house in Beverly Hills is 15,000 square feet and contains seven bedrooms and ten bathrooms. After a failed attempt at renting out the mansion for $200,000 per month, he finally decided to put it on the market. Martin Lawrence's house features high ceilings, hardwood and marble floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, arched doorways, chandeliers, and multiple fireplaces. The entryway is dominated by a gorgeous marble staircase, and elsewhere in the house there is a billiards room, a huge fish tank, and a state-of-the-art eat-in kitchen. Outside of Martin Lawrence's house are meticulously landscaped grounds, a swimming pool, and a spa. The house is on sale for $26.5 million, but since he seems to want to get it off his hands quickly, you might be able to talk him down by a few million.

Katy Perry Picks Up a Pair Of Properties in Los Angeles

Katy Perry Picks Up a Pair Of Properties in Los Angeles

When we last caught up with the lovely Katy Perry, she had just listed her Hollywood Hills home with her then-husband Russell Brand. That home remains on the market for $6.925 million, but Perry is already on to new things. The Real Estalker reports that Perry has snagged not one but two pieces of prime acreage in Los Angeles, and one has a bit of celebrity provenance. Perry spent a total of $11.2 million.

Perry picked up a total of around four acres split up over a pair of purchases from heiress Aileen Getty. Neither property was listed at the time. Getty previously purchased one of the homes from Bruce Springsteen drummer and former Conan O’Brien bandleader Max Weinberg. Weinberg and his wife, Rebecca, are serial house flippers who bought the home in 2009 from director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Forner, the parents of Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The home is at the end of a long private driveway and sits on nearly an acre. The five-bedroom home was built in 1953 and has midcentury modern lines with walls of glass, an open floor plan and a sharp, angular appeal. The kitchen has stainless counters and Miele appliances and flows into a large living room with 14-foot ceilings and a fireplace. The master bathroom has dual custom-poured concrete vanities and wood floors. The property also has a two-bedroom guesthouse and a swimming pool with views of the Los Angeles skyline. The pictures in the gallery above show the home when it was listed in 2011.

Taylor Swift's house in Rhode Island

Taylor Swift's House: The Fickle Songstress Pays In Cash
Taylor Swift seems to be rather obsessive about having two things, boyfriends and property. She also has an unfortunate penchant for getting rid of these two things, almost as quickly as she collects them. However, that deserves a whole other article of its own. Over the course of the last couple of years, she's gone through three high profile romances and three high-profile house deals, and as winter turns to spring in 2013, she seems destined to keep racking up homes. The 23-year old Pennsylvania native has been writing and recording music professionally since 2006, and has amassed a ridiculous number of awards and staggering album sales over the course of her comparatively short seven-year career. Though her blonde-haired, blue-eyed pretty girl-next-door looks, and her lyrics about teen heartbreak, have endeared her to a million "tweens" around the world, one need only look to her personal life to see that she has the makings of a major diva. Her penchant for buying ever more opulent homes, is one sure sign that the princess of country-pop is ascending the throne of full-grown country-pop queen. Most recently, she purchased a massive mansion in Rhode Island… in cash.

Taylor Swift's house in Rhode Island, is an 11,000 square foot home overlooking the water. The eight-bedroom, ten and a half-bath house, rests 65 feet above Little Narragansett Bay, and was built in 1930. Inside Taylor Swift's house there is a 45-foot sun room, a massive kitchen with an attached family room with its own fireplace, and an equally impressive dining room. The bedrooms are all large, and the majority of them have their own bathroom, or bathrooms. There is also a roof terrace, a wet bar, and a recreation space on the lower level of Taylor Swift's house that opens to the beach. The list of amenities goes on and on and includes multiple balconies, a pool, a fitness room, and a five-car garage. The house was on the market for $24 million, but because Ms. Swift was willing to pay, in full, via wire, the price was dropped to a noticeably smaller, but no less heart attack inducing, $17.75 million. With that rather spectacular purchase, we can officially say that the princess has become a diva.
