America’s Hottest Neighborhoods of 2012 on Realtor.com

Each year millions of people turn to Realtor.com to help them search for their dream home. Part of that search is finding the perfect neighborhood to set down roots, raise children, enjoy the empty-nester lifestyle – or one that will just make your commute shorter. The definition of a great neighborhood is different for everybody, but some neighborhoods are so popular that hundreds of thousands of people search for homes in them every month.
By looking at zip code searches on Realtor.com, we were able to determine which neighborhoods were the most-searched, hottest places to live in America in 2012:
1. Old Town – Chicago, IL
The Second City kicks off our list of hottest neighborhoods with its historic Old Town neighborhood. With roots dating back to the 1870’s, Old Town Chicago’s well-preserved Victorian-style buildings, fashionable dining scene, and its urban, pedestrian-friendly Near North Side location explain just why it’s the most searched neighborhood on Realtor.com.
2. Willow Bend Country – Plano, TX
For our next hot neighborhood, we travel south to Willow Bend Country in Plano, Texas, a neighborhood a chip shot away from the Gleneagles Country Club, and not far from the marinas and fishing spots on Lewisville Lake. With freeway and commuter train access to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, and plenty of close in shopping and cultural attractions, Willow Bend Country is understandably popular.
3. Keller – Fort Worth, TX
We stay in the Lone Star State for our third-hottest neighborhood: Keller, just outside Forth Worth. Keller was named one of Money magazine’s “10 Best Places to Live” in 2009, and it’s easy to see why: easy freeway access to Dallas-Fort Worth, plenty of green space, and forward-looking growth planning put in place to help manage the influx of people looking to move in.
4. Spring Valley – Las Vegas, NV
A large neighborhood which has sprung up around a core master-planned community, Spring Valley is quintessential Las Vegas – out of the desert, our fourth-most searched neighborhood has risen. With its proximity to the Vegas Strip, a mix of housing stock which ranges in price from low six-figures to luxury homes, and the 240-acre Desert Breeze Park, there are plenty of reasons to want to call Spring Valley home.
5. Stoneybrook – Orlando, FL
Nestled between the University of Central Florida and the Hal Scott Regional Preserve and Park is Stoneybrook, the next stop on our tour of the hottest neighborhoods on Realtor.com. Home to a championship golf course – and convenient to the Orlando airport, the Kissimmee-St. Cloud region, and the Atlantic Ocean via Florida Tollroad 528 – Stoneybrook is perfect for those home buyers looking for a place in the Florida sun.
