Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick Selling Greek Revival Townhouse in Greenwich Village

Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick Selling Greek Revival Townhouse in Greenwich Village

by HOOKEDONHOUSES on SEPTEMBER 17, 2012

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick have not one but two townhouses in NYC, and there always seem to be rumors about them shopping for more fabulous properties about town. This one, a Greek Revival that’s 5 stories high and 25 feet wide, sits just off Fifth Avenue in Greenwich Village. They bought it last year for $18.9 million.

After doing some work on it, the celeb couple just put it back on the market for $25 m (that’s a lot of Manolos). Take a look:

According to the listing: “The front stoop leads through the stair hall to the massive, beautifully-detailed double parlor with 12′ ceilings and a pair of fireplaces. Light pours in from high, wide windows at both front & rear.”

There are 7 working fireplaces, including one in the kitchen. The agent says: “A huge Boffi kitchen & breakfast area on the garden level has direct access for dining al fresco.”

Rumor has it the couple never moved into the townhouse after finishing the work on it, which may explain why it looks so pristine. It’s hard to imagine their three kids spent much time running around in these rooms.

“The 3rd floor has 3 bedrooms, big closets & 2 full baths. The entire 4th floor is the Master Suite with a spectacular bath, multiple walk-in closets & a large south terrace.”

The 5th floor is a dramatic loft-like space that looks like a modern library. This is where I’d be spending a lot of my time:

There’s a tiered garden in back that’s pretty lovely, too:

Want it? For more photos, floorplans, and information about the property, check the Sotheby’s listing. Read more on the New York Observer. Curbed has a few photos of how it looked in the previous listing

P.S. I loved their house in the Hamptons. Remember that one?

Inside George Clooney’s L.A. Home

A Peek Inside George Clooney’s L.A. Home

by HOOKEDONHOUSES on FEBRUARY 15, 2012

George Clooney let cameras inside his beautiful Los Angeles home for an interview on the CBS show “Person to Person” recently. He told Lara Logan and Charlie Rose that “A house is a place you live in, but a home is a place that your family and friends are part of.”

He bought this one when he was starring on “ER” and needed more privacy from the photogs who were hounding him. He says they always rented houses when he was growing up, so owning one of his own was important to him when he got out on his own.

I’m in love with his kitchen. Check out the video below (they make you watch a short commercial first) and take a look! (If the video doesn’t come up for you, you can watch it onCBS.com.)

Michael Jordan's House in North Carolina

Until recently, it seemed like anything Michael Jordan touched was bound to be successful. He touched a basketball, and he entirely remade the game. He touched a baseball bat, and while not as successful as his basketball career, he was certainly no slouch. When it came to product endorsement and clothing lines, he could do no wrong. Nike's success is partially due to him. Even his celebrity golf career is appreciably good. However, of late, he's looked less like a man with the Midas Touch, and more like a struggling businessman. His tenure as President of the Washington Wizards was not stellar, and the only thing that elevated the team, was his decision to return to the NBA court for a few season. His ownership of the Charlotte Bobcats has been equally underwhelming, and the team posted the worst winning percentage in NBA history in 2011-2012. Add a recent paternity suit to that, and you have to wonder whether Jordan is making his way through a period of karmic payback for all of his years of success. In spite of all the not so good parts of his current life, he can be happy about one thing – he just bought a massive compound in North Carolina for $1 million less than its original sale price.

Michael Jordan's house is 12,310 square feet and contains six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. It sits on a nearly 50,000 square foot lot right on the water. The interior of Michael Jordan's house features vaulted ceilings, marble and hardwood floors, multiple fireplaces, an elevator, and jacuzzi tubs in some of the bathrooms. There are stunning views of the nearby lake from almost every side of the house through floor-to-ceiling windows. Outside of Michael Jordan's house, there is a pool, and a pier to a gazebo set out in the lake. Michael Jordan purchased the property for $2.8 million, quite a bit less than its original $3.99 million asking price. Who knows – maybe his luck his starting to change?

Kanye West's House: Ditching the Bachelor Pad in Time for Fatherhood

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are a match made in tabloid heaven. She's appeared on a dizzying number of reality shows, has more endorsement deals than just about anyone else on the planet, and has managed to make more money from her highly publicized wedding (and divorce) than most people make in five years. Kanye West's fame as a musician and producer, is trumped only by his handful of slightly unhinged public appearances, such as interrupting Taylor Swift's VMA acceptance speech, or comparing himself to Hitler during his performance at the Big Chill Festival in England. All Kanye has to do is open his mouth, and he's in the headlines. Consequently, the fact that these two tailor-made newsmakers joined forces, and made a baby, no less, has every pop culture editor just about doing the dance of joy. The two stars seem to know exactly how much their notoriety is worth, and have managed to make a tidy sum on exclusive interviews and photos. Their future child's college education has been paid for, and then some. They have also been off-loading a lot of real estate lately, as they continue to build a life together. This week, Kanye West put his house in the Hollywood Hills on the market.

Kanye West's house is 4,214 square feet and contains three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. The house was built in 2002, and features a number of luxury touches, including floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors, walk-in closets, and stunning views of the surrounding area. Kanye West's house is also completely computer controlled, and has maid's quarters, a home theater, a media room, and a bar. The decor in the house currently screams "Bachelor Pad", so it stands to reason that he's put the place on the market now that he is deep into a relationship. Kanye West's house is priced at $3.3 million. Hopefully he won't say anything totally bizarre between now and it's actual sale, or it could make it even more difficult to unload.

Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak’s ‘Original Estate’ Back on the Market

Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak’s ‘Original Estate’ Back on the Market

The former home of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is back on the market this week, and sporting a slimmer price tag. Known as the ‘Original Wozniak Estate’, the quirky, modern home originally listed for $4.5 million back in September, but isnow being offered at a $105,000 discount.

Built in 1986, roughly a year before Woz’s full-time tenure at Apple came to close, the 1.2-acre property is found in Los Gatos, CA, just a short drive down the 86 from the tech giant’s corporate headquarters. Described as “post-modern style with majestic natural views,” the 7,100-square-foot home underwent a complete re-design at the hands of designer Larry Willard and architects Avi Agasi and Amnon Levy in 2006. It features a unique, geometrically-inspired design with numerous windows and light vestibules, including a circular stained glass skylight in the chef’s kitchen, which invites a wealth of natural light. However, what we’re most interested in is one peculiar design twist: a fireman’s pole linking the home’s two floors.

The listing is presented by Art Sharif of Sotheby’s International Realty.

Christina Aguilera’s Pink Closet (and the House That Goes With It!)

Christina Aguilera’s Pink Closet (and the House That Goes With It!)

by HOOKEDONHOUSES on JANUARY 17, 2012

Alot of people have been repinning this photo of Christina Aguilera in her mega-pink closet on Pinterest lately, which got me wondering whether her Beverly Hills house is still for sale. Turns out it is, and there are more photos of her closet–which comes with its own beauty salon–in the listing.

The whole house has some pretty “Whoa!” decor, which we saw in InStyle magazine a couple years ago. Now divorced from Jordan Bratman and moving on, she’s selling it for $13.5 million.

She bought this house from Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne in 2007, who made it famous on their reality show. Before moving in, she had it completely redecorated.

The game room–complete with a pink pool table:

The kitchen, which I always wanted to see more of on The Osbournes, looks barely recognizable as the same room now:

Here’s how the kitchen looked in InStyle when the mag featured it:

What we couldn’t see in that photo was the “Apopcalypse” sign above the stove:

It’s not every day you see a carousel horse in a dining room, is it? There is just a whole lot going on in here. Wow.

The upstairs landing, with what looks like a Chihuly chandelier:

Christina’s son Max is 4 now.

When he was a baby, a (scary) Man in the Moon watched over the crib (via People):

The Master Bedroom has a kind of black canopy bed on a platform:

There are 6 bedrooms and 9 baths in the house, which is 10,000 square feet.

The Master Bath:

She told InStyle that she had not one but two closets. That red chandelier in this one is, asRachel Zoe would say, major. (Hey, doesn’t it look like a smaller version of the one in the entry?)

The closet has “a beauty salon” inside.

And don’t forget the wrapping station:

What do you think? Love it or hate it, it’s anything but boring! For more photos and information, check the listing on Zillow by Brooke Kaufman of Hilton & Hyland.

Check out this post to see pics of the house featured in InStyle magazine. Did you watch the Osbournes? Here’s how it looked when they called this home.
